Mr. T. A. Revel, the nowly-ap-pointed manager of the local Union Steamship office, arrived by the Waikare yesterday morning. Mr. Fraser, who is entering a business career in Wellington, in which he will have the heartiset good wishes of his many Gisborne friends, leaves by the Waikare on Sunday. A private letter received yesterday morning states that Sergeant Williams, who is South on sick leave, has improved greatly, and expects to return to Gisborne in about* a month’s timo. Mr. W. T. Glasgow, Secretary and Inspector of Customs, who has been up on a visit of inspection, returned South by the Miowera last night. Mr. It. M. Birrell, whose trip to the Old Country was indefinitely postponed owing to the illness of his daughter Ethol, is now able to go, as the latter is convalescent. He intends leaving in time to connect with the Ormuz, which sails from Sydney on May 18tli. A Press Association telegram from Nielson last night states: At the annual meeting of the Nelson Agricultural and Pastoral Association, Mr. J. Hooper was elected president, Mr. J. E. Bartlett vice-president, and Mr W. R. May delegate to the Agricultural Conference.
