Press Association. WELLINGTON, last night. Tho weather was threatening for tho first day of tho Autumn Mooting, but no rain 1011. Tho attendance was below that of former Autumn Meetings, anil could not havo exceeded 2,0U0. Tho course was in good order, and fair times wero registered. A total of £12,822 was put through tho machines, as against £12,469 last year. Tho doublo Holen Portland and Lady Annie paid £32 18s. The results were: — Hurdles: Black Reynard 1, Maui 2, Rangitoto 3. Also started: Assayor. Pawn anil Levant. Pawa and Maui led to tho top turn, when Black Reynard cumo with a wet cenil and won easily. Timo, 3.14 1-5. Div. £4 4s and £1 2s. AVniwotu Handicap: Grandslam 1, Tvurawokn 2, Probable 3. Also ran: Wirral, Royal Blue, and Slamau. Wirrall and Kuraweka led round the turn into the straight when Grand Slam put in a late run and won by a length. Time, 1.30. Div. £5 13s and £2 19s.
Silvorstroam Hack Haiulic \p: Swimming Bolt 1, Moloch 2, Mataari 3. Also started: Merrie Rose, Armamonto, Truthful, Hiro, Monta, and Gold Guard. It was a good race to within a furlong from home, whin Swimming Belt drew away, and won by a length. Time, 1.30 2-5. Div. £4 7s and £2 10s.
Thompson Handicap: Helen. Portland 1, Mahutu 2, Chatterer 3. Ako ran: Marguerite, Aeolus, Contender, Submarine, Mystification, St. 100. The Lark, Pas Sued, Fontenoy, and Sherlock Holmes. This was a slashing race. Helen Portland was in the, van throughout, but in the straight Mahutu put in a decided challenge, and the pair fought out a desperate finish, Helen Portland gaining the verdict by a bare length. Tim 3, 1.41 2-5. Div. £8 15s and £2 ss.
Railway Handicap: Lady Annie 1, Medallist 2, Volume 3. Also raj. Full Rate, Lord Soult, Gawain, Sunbonnet, Platypus, and Chicane. Lady Annie cut down Volume an 1 Medallist in the staight and won by a length. Time, 1.16 i- Div £3 Is and £1 15s.
Plunket Nursery Handicap: Oxtni 1, Happy Maid 2, Fairland 3. These were the only starters. Won easily. Div. £1 3s and £1 14s. North Island Challenge Stakes: Glenculloch 1, Achilles 2, Downfall 3. Also started: Gold Crest. It was a good race to the turn, but Achilles failed in the last furlong to catch Glenculloch, who won by a length. Time, 1.29 4-3. Div £3 17s. Tina’kori Hack: Erl King 1, Gauze 2, Clem 3. Also ran: Kaiuku, Compass, Ancycle, Saga, Kinloch. Won by a length. Time, 1.7 3-5. Div. £2.
