TU I'ASuAXUI CLUB. Entries arc being rceoivoil bv the above club for a competition for the Bennett Champion Cup, which has been presented b.v’Mr. C. J. Bennett for Champion Singles. In the competition each player meets each player, the trophy going to the player securing the greatest number of wins. The cup is to remain in the winner’s possession for the year, a stipulation being made that the trophy shall remain the property of the club, and that, no howler shall win it outright. A large entry is (expected. The President of the elub. .Mr. G. Aiatthcwson, has donated four medals to the club to be competed for ill handicap fours. This is the first competition in handicap fours held by the club, and it is anticipated large entries will come forward. Entries arc now open.
It is expected Hint the finiil in the handicap pairs for Mr. I). Barry’s set of bowls will be played this week. The contestants are Morrison am! Martin (skip) v. Alackroll and Matthewson (ski])).
The following games were played on the Gisborne Bowling Club’s green on Saturday:—Colehrook, Hansen, Ifwerson. and Bright (21) v. Bolton, Hods, McGowan, and Simson (6): Paltridge, Fordvce. Nicolas, and Ponsford (25) v. Murray, Johnston, Brown, and,Cunningham (15); Jones and Hookey (20) v. Johnston and Boss (17).
RIFLE SHOOTING. The Committee of tlie poverty Bay Rifle Association met on Monday evening to make final arrangements for the forthcoming meeting on Easier Monday. It was decided that new members of the. Association be admitted for a subscription of 3s. forth is meeting only. In connection with the teams match it was decided that if more than five teams enter a second prise of 25s bo awarded: in Ibe event' of .sickness or unavoidable absence substitutes ho allowed.
