Press Association. Cli RISTCHUUCH, yesterday. Captain Allsop; of the s.s. Ripple, which arrived at Lyttelton from the Chatham Islands yesterday morning, reports that when at the Islands he was informed that about a fortnight ago a boaril about live feet ill length painted yellow, bearing the word “Auckland” in black letters, was picked tip on a beach oil the east side of the main island. It did not. his informant stated, appeal' to have been very long in the water and it is supposed to have come from a small vessel, probably a scow or schooner. The place where it was discovered was on the side of the island opposite to that oil which signal rockets were seen on Alarcli Bth, . these having been observed oil the western coast.
