Press Association. WESTPORT, last night. At a sitting of tho Arbitration Court yesterday awards woro made in accordance with agreements arrived at at a conference between tho Doiiiiiston Miners’ ami Denniston F.ugino-drivors 1 Union anil the Westport Coal Company. Delegates of tho Granity Minors’ Union reported that tho Union had rejected tho agreement’ arrived at in tho couforonco, and the Court- would thoroforo bo asked to deal with tho disputo. His Honor stated that tho Court could not go into tlio quostion at this sitting, and it might ill six months’ time, when it sat again, bo compelled to adopt tho award of 1905. Ho advised tho Union to reconsider the position, and take another ballot within a month’s time. This concludes the Westport sitting.
POLO TOURNAMENT. EXCITING FINISH FOR THE SAVILLE CUP. Press Association. NAPIER, Last Night. Tho Now Zealand Polo Tournament was continued at Hastings on Saturday. The final for the Seville Cup between the Hawke’s Bay A and Rangitikei teams was an exceptionally good game. The genera! opinion prior to tho commencement of tho piny was that Rangitikei would win somewhat easily, but from tho start of play it was seen that Hawke’s Bay did not mean to let the visitors have matters all their own way. Both teams played splendidly, and the game was worth travelling a long way to witness. Both Ormond and Russell wore, playing a magnificont game for Hawke’s Bay, especially Ormond. From start to finish the game was exceedingly fast, both teams hitting well. In the first spell play was very exciting. Russell drawing first blood for Hawke’s Bay, while on two occasions Rangitikei came very near scoring. The second spell was a repetition of tin-, first. Hawke’s Bay pressed their-t Opponents very hard, and Ormond' scored two goals as the result of some lino play, in which lie was well supported by Russell. In the third spell matters were more even. 11. Wilson placing a goal to Rangitikoi’s credit, while Mackenzie added another to Hawke’s Bay’s score. In the fourth spell Hawke’s Bay’s play.lacked vigour, and it seemed as though the pace they set at tho start was beginning to tell on them, nnd Rangitikei put on three goals in this spell, thus making tho score even. N. Wilson hit two of the goals, and Dalrvmple one. In tho fifth spell excitement ran high, and when it was seen that Hawke’s Bay was again playing In the form that characterised them at the start interest became very keen. After some splendid play on both sides Ormond succeeded for Hawke’s Bay, and although both sides kept up the pressure right to tho end of the last spell, no further score resulted. Hawke’s Bay thus winning by 5 goals to 4. In tho handicap cup, Wellington A (10) beat Fern Flats (18) by 24 goals to 21. • At the conclusion of the play Lady ’ Bussell presented the .Saville Cup to 1 her son, Mr. Harold Bussell, captain 1 of the Hawke’s Bay team.
