THE CADETS

DEPARTURE FOR CHRISTCHURCH. Thero was quite a large crowd of people at the wharf yesterday morning to bid farewell to the Poverty Bay cadets who left for Christchurch. AYlien the roll was called prior to embarkation there were only tlireo absentees, who put in an appearance after the Tuate-a had left, and were rowed out to the Te Anau by two sailors from the scow Coronation. The cadets from Patutalii arrived by coach a few minutes before the parade at 5.35 a.m.

As the Tuatea moved from . the wharf ringing cheers were given, the whole send-off being of a very hearty nature. By 7.15 all the boys had been transferred to the transport and slio had got under weigh.
