ELEMINGTON MEETING. Press Association—Copyright. MELBOURNE, yesterday,For the autumn meeting there was auspiciously bright sunshine. The new Gambling Bill provisions did not seem to be affecting the meeting. The bookmakers in attendance were nil to the average, while tlie attendance, if anything, was above tlie past year’s record. The results w'ere: Hopeful Stakes: Verennice 1, Miss Malster 2, Lady- Rylstonc 3. Ten others started. Verenice came at the distance, and won by a head. Time, 1.31. St. Lcgcr: Poseidon 1, Booran 2, Benbow 3. Poseidon went to the front from tlie start, led all tlie way, and won by 2} lengths, the same distance separating second and third. Time, 3.16. Newmarket Handicap.—Ebullition 1, North Head 2, Collarit 3. All started. From a good start, Pompons, Stepout, lolairo, and Tortive were the first to show. Crossing the tan Ellis got in front, followed by Pompous and Istria, the next showing in a bunch being Grenadier, Dora, and Frey. Istria went to tlie front and maintained the lead. At the distance Collarit came with a good run. chased hard by Ebullition and North Head. After a good race up the straight Ebullition won by a neck and a half, a length separating second and third. Time, 1.51. Betting: 3 to 1 Istria, 4 to 1 North Head, 12 to 1 Winner. Sires’ Produce -Stakes.—Tangaroa 1, Seobie 2, Boastful 3. Other starters : Dulins, Peru, Lady Diffidence, Malsterdille, and McPherson. Betting: 0 to 1 Seobie, 9 to 2 Diffidence, 0 to 1 Tangaroa, 7 to 1 Boastful, From a good start Boastful and Seobie wore first to show. Peru oil the rails went to the front at the 5 furlongs post, followed by Malsterdille, who led across the tan front Boastful, and Peru and Seobie led at the distance, but Tangaroa came fast on the outside and won by 2 lengths, a head separating second and third horse. Time, 1.171. Essendon Stakes.—Dividend 9.3 1, May King 9.0- 2, Dyed Garments 9.0 3. Other starters: Rhubarb, Proceedcr, Realm, Pins, Antonins, Dividend was first away, and fouglit out the race with Realm, Rhubarb and Dyed Garments. Realm led into the straight, but Dividend came at the distance, and won by a length and a quarter, one and a half lengths separating second and third Time, 2.372. Beting: 4to 1 the wiimor, 2to 9 Antonins. Brunswick Stakes.—Redstreak 1, Kaffir Pan 2, Lady Esme 3. Fourteen others started. Lady Esme and Kaffir-pan wore prominent from tlie first. Redstreak came at the distance ancKwon by Ti lengths. Time, 2.8}. Betting: 3 to 1 Esme, 4 to 1 Alexis, 8 to 1 Redstreak.
