HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE.

EDISON’S PICTURES. For a Saturday night there was a big audience at His Majesty’s Theatre to view the magnificent pictures shown under the name of the famous inventor of the animated uidows, which in this instance for size and clearness were not surpassed. Some trouble with the gas engine at the outset caused a delay, which was filled in by the clever little girl Bessie Sutton, whose impersonations, singing, and dancing were worthy of a full-grown adult, and she was recalled again and again. When the machinery was put in order the audience was agreeably surprised at the excellence of the display, and as each realistic followed another it was realised that no better display could he produced by mechanical means. The first of the series was a genuine representation of a New York fire scene, with all its horrors and excitement. A train ride across Brooklyn bridge, and a steamer trip in view of the great “skyscrapers” of New York city were pictures very well worth seeing, but the party of school girls enjoying themselves at Coney Island was one of the most genuinely funny things that could be imagined. Spiritualism exposed was anotlien of the many exceedingly clever pictures shown, every one of which was worth seeing. The entertainment as a whole was one of the very best of its class, and those who witnessed it were well satisfied that they had had value for tlier money. The programme for to-night is advertised in another column.
