UNITED V. WANDERERS. Tlio above clubs mob at the Victoria Domain on Saturday last. The Wanderers, batting first, made 158. Six wickets wero down lor 50 when Wilson and McDonnell became associ ated, tho partnership putting on 89 runs. Although both batsmen wero liberally treated by the fieldsmen, and given a few lives, their play was sound and attractive. They punished anything loose, and played good balls with judgment. McDonnell was dismissed through attempting to pull a full toss from Lang which took tho leg-pin. lie contributed 42. The remaining batsmen were oon dismissed by Gardiner and Lang, Wilson carrying his bat for 03. Tho innings totalled 158. United started badly, McDonnell getting a fast one past Robinson before ho had scored. Dabs followed, but soon lost Gardiner who was bowled oil' his pads. Ur. Collins stepped out to Torkington, and paid the penalty, being smartly stumped by McConnell. J. Gibson was clean bowled by McDonnell. Whyte and Babs put on 27 for the fifth wicket, when the latter hit Torkington up at third man. Lang and Whyte played out time, the latter having made 21. McDonnell and Torkington divided bowling honors. Tho former bowls a good fast ball, keeps a splendid length, and comes across with his arm. OLD BOYS’ MATCH.

The annual cricket match, Christ College v. Wanganui College Old Boys was jdayed on Thursday, on Victoria Domain, and proved an exciting game, resulting in a tie, each side scoring 102 in the first innings. Wanganui batted first. S. Palmer was in great form, scoring 65, and hit magnificently. Sainsbury (15) and Willock (15) also got into double figures. Ludbrook (five wickets), E. V. Palmer and 11. B. Williams, two wickets each, shared the bowling honors. On Christ College going in to bat they put up the same score, viz., 102. Ludbrook, when well set, had tho bad luck to be bowled off the edge of the matting; he scored 30. A. B. Williams (21) and extras (17) were the other double figure scores. In the second innings. Wanganui declared at 86 for live wickets. S. Palmer (54, retired) was again top scorer, and gave a splendid exhibition of hard hitting—Busby 12. Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Saturday. The first test match between the M.C.C. and tlie New' Zealand team was continued yesterday, when the weather was very hot. The New' Zealand team commenced their second innings, which produced 187 runs. E. V. Sale, who compiled 60, played a careful, stylish innings, giving no chances. He was eventually bowled by Simpson Hayward. J. D. Lawrence, the other successful batter, put together 51, and was then cauglit by Douglas, off Branston. He was previously nearly stumped, Fox failing to bold a ball which Lawrence stepped out to and missed, The Englishmen started tlieir second innings, and at call of time had made -52 for one wicket. The match will be concluded on Monday. The following are the scores:
