THE EXHIBITION. (By Telegraph Special Serrloe.) CHRISTCHURCH, last night To-day has boon a day of days at tho Exhibition, and tho attendance has been large from the opening till closing time. The baby show, athletic sports mooting, boomerang throwing, and Christian Endeavour Union demonstration formed a variety ui special attractions that has seldom neon matched. Over live hundred babies had boon entered for the show before tho entries finally closed, and there were quite four hundred on exhibition, including half a dozen pairs in the class for twins. They were ranged in lour lines down tho main corridor of tho Exhibition, and judged by Mrs Field, Nurso Ensom, and tho general manager, Mr .... S. Munro, in batches of about 20, in the Commissioner’s room. Soon after 8 o’clock Mr Munro announced tho results, and stated that the show had been, lie believed, tho biggest of its kind ovor hold in tho Southern Hemisphere, and certainly the biggest ill the colony. Every child was presented with a certificate of attendance. Tho youngsters were on their best behavior throughout tho proceedings, and tho show afforded entertainment to a large number of tho public. Simultaneously tho first day’s sports of tho Now Zealand Amateur Athletic Association were hold oil tho sports ground in tho prosonco of a fair attendance. The exhibition of boomerang throwing by an Australian expert created a good deal of interest by its novelty, but the success of tho performance was spoiled somowliat by the wind. Tho demonstration in tho concert hall by tho Christian Endeavor Union in tho evening attracted a large audience. , Mr Munro has written to Lieut. Bentley, warmly thanking him for his sorvices in connection with tho recent band contest, and placing on record his view of tho very satisfactory manner in which Lieut. Bentley had carried out his duties as judge. The sign “Sent. apiary,” executed

in large letters of honeycomb by busy bees attached to that interesting industrial division, has boon placed in position over the fine display of honey in tho Agricultural Department’s court, and has proved an attraction. The notice states that the sign is an example of what bees can do when under control.

Advice ljas been received bv Mr H. J. Scott. South Australian Commissioner; that two tons of grapes from that State to he disposed of in the Exhibitin buildings will ho shipped in time to arrive in Christchurch by tho end of the current month.
