Tenders are advertised for carting 15,000 feet of timber to Waimata. Yesterday morning, at the Police Court, Robert- Stewart Horner, an old man, was brought up on the charge of being an idle and disorderly person, with no visible means of support. The accused pleaded guilty. The police evidence was that he had been wandering about Gisborne for a month ,and cadging his living from any who would listen to his solicitations. Horner told the magistrate that if ho would let him off he would clear out of Gisborne. His Worship said: “Very well; you are an old man, and the record against you is not a had one. Take my advice, leave drink alone, and go to work. On condition you leave Gisborne I discharge you.”—William Henry Cooper, of iVaerengaaliika,-was summoned by his wife, Elizabeth Cooper, of Makauri, for assaulting her and threatening to break her neck on November 20th, 1906. Mr. W. L. Rees appeared for complainant, and Mr. Stock defended. It appeared from the statement of Mr. Rees that the offence consisted of threats. _ Mr. Stock said that his client desired a separation. On the application of Mistook the case was adjourned until Monday on the understanding that defendant did not in any way interfere with kjs wife.
