PROVINCIAL ARMY BAND.

The much-talked of Provincial Army Band arrived this morning, 36 strong. The band have had a most successful time in the South, many of the public halls proving too small to hold the crowds that have flocked to hear this strong combination'lof 36 performers. The hand should have a good reception this evening. His Worship the Mayor (Mr. Townleyj will officially welcome the band at 7.30(p.m. at the firebell. This is said to be one of the finest brass bands the Salvation Army lias ever sent to Gisborne, and should be appreciated by the people of this town and district. The band is under the conductorship of Bandmaster Tremmin, while Brigadier Albiston, the officer in charge of tho Salvation Anny for the North Island, is also travelling with the combination. The first programme will be given at the Barracks this evening at 8 o’clock. On Sunday afternoon the band will give a high-class sacred programme from the Rotunda, Recreation Ground, and in the evening will give a thrilling service of song entitled “Tlie Wreck of the Wairarapa,”* with storm effects, in His Majesty’s Theatre, at 7.30 o’clock.
