Prospecting operations conducted since the Into Company disposed of the mine have disclosed a new reef in virgin country, north of No. 7 level; of almost phenomena! richness, showing coarse gold freely all over the fr.ee, in splendid track of 4 to 5 feet wide, in very kindly solid country. It is widening as driven upon, as well as steadily 'inproving in value, and has every bidication of permanency. The stone is of higher grade than any previously found in the mine, and so fairs is known is richer than any hitherto mined on the West Coast. Assays made from trial lots from new leof taken at random across the face, and believed to lie fair average sampl-is, have given the remarkable results of fiom £219 to £llO per ton at assay department-, Bank of New Zealand, Auckland; whilst parcel of about •56 lbs. similarly taken by Mr. Curtis, mine manager, as fair trial, gave at Ileefton School of Mines at rate of 970 z. 13dwt. per ton, gold being worth about £4 per oz. The mine is equipped with complete plant of 20 stamp battery, driven by Peltj.i wheels, ample water power, and valuable extensive watir races and other necessary rights; air compressors and pipes; miles of rock tunnels to reef in 12 levels; and represents as it stands a cash outlay of over £50,000. The property lends itself to economical working, having about 1.500 feet of hacks level free. The famous “Tjrconuel,” “Dreak o’ Day,” and “Littlo Wonder” claims are" all included in the Company** extensive holdings, which total about 170 acres on lino and underlie lodes.
