THE ELECTORATES.

PRESS ASSOCIATION Wellington, last night. The Bay of Plenty district comprises the counties of Rotorua, Whakatane, Opotiki, and Waiapu, together with that portion of East Taupo country lying north of the Taupo-Napior road, and also Tolago Bay, Waimata, and Wailtohu ridings of Cook County, and that portion of Gisborne riding lying north of Sections 17, 16, 30, and 71, Block VILI-, Waimata Survey District. East Island is also included in this district.

THE NEW BOUNDARY. A study nf tho map, taken in conjunction with our messages yesterday morning, shows that the new Gisborne electorate oommocc3s on the Wainui neat the Okitu factory, Tatspouri Hotel being excluded, and Mrs Cooper’s house left in. Tho lino crosses the Waimata above Mr Teeadale’s house. Barker’s estate is out out, though Mangapapa and tbs Tarahern freezing works are included! The lino crosses above the Mission Estate at Waerenga-a-hika, cutting out Ormond, Karaka, and Wbatatutu and neighboring districts. Waimarie, Pouparae, Patutahi, and Okahuatia are included, but MrW. K. Chambers’ property is- in the adjoining electorate. Te Arai, Murewai, Nuhaka, Hangaroa, Motu, Mahia, Frasertown, Wairoa, and Mohaka are in Gisborne electorate, which goes as far South as Tangoio ; the old boundery line. A number of prominent people on both sides of the local option question were interviewed yesterday by a Times representative, and the general impression was conveyed that in both electorates the change is in favor of the prohibition party, taking previous experiences as a guide. In the Gisbocns electorate an analysis of the last voting gives 1928 for oontinuance, 2328 for reduction, aid 3447 for nc-lioense; but it must be remembered that the southern portion of the oonstituenoy was not very keenly canvassed on th 6 local option question during last election. The carrying of prohibition in one electorate now would still leave a number of houses open near tho border line, as Tatspouri, Ormond, sod Kaitaratabi.
