The eecond express from Wellington to New Plymouth ran into a trap noai ; Normanby driven by an elderly-man, W illiam Thompson, a farmer. The horse was disembowelled, the trap smashed, and Thompson thrown clear on to his head.- The engine driver pulled, up promptly, The injured man was taken to Normanby, but there is little hope entertained of his recovery, , The train was further delayed by a mishap near Inglewood, and did not reach town until 11-30 pm.
