THE WOOL SALES. Received 1.5 a m., Dec 11. Sydney, Doc 10. Eleven thousand nine hundred bales were catalogued for to-day’s wool sales. Previous high prices were well maintained, PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT London, Dec 9. N ortli Island sheep 4.Vd, River Plato 8 11-l Gd. The market is practically bare of lambs, no New Zealand offering. Hemp is quiet at about 10s decline. Waihi shares are at £8 15s. Silver is at 8s 2d. Copper, spot 103 1-8, three months 104 1-8 ; till, spot 196. J; iron, 02s 2d. Twelve thousand quarters of Victorian January wheat sold at 29s 9d. At the wool sales 118,800 bales were catalogued, and there were sold to Home buyers 50,000 hales, to Continental buyers 47,000, and to the United States 8000 bales, leaving 8000 bales held over Compared with the opening rates best and faulty merinos were fairly maintained, medium sorts were slightly weaker. Crossbreds fetched fancy prices throughout, and closed at 10 to 15 per cent, above September rates. The tone of all the markets is strong. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., arc in receipt of the following cable from their London house: “Market closed strong for all sorts of wools. As compared with last sale’s closing rates, prices are higher about 5 to 71 per cent, for scoured merino, about 10 to 15 per cent, higher for crossbred slipe. Average current value of New Zealand wool: Good merino 14 Jd, medium merino 12d, inferior merino 9jd, fine crossbred 15d, medium crossbred 14d, eoars e crossbred (40’s) 18d, coarse crossbred (36’s) 12Jd.”
