MOTOR CAR ACCIDENT.
A MAN KILLED. PRESS ASSOCIATION. Christchurch, last night, At one o’oloek tins morning a motor oar containing five men, driven by T. W. Felton, ran into a night cart on tho Riocarton road. The car struck the pole of tho night cart, which ontored ths body of G. Da Montauk, sitting with Fulton on the front seat of tho oar. Da Montauk was flung out on to the road and died in a few minutes. Felton was also thrown out and injurod. Tho othora wore badly shaken. Tne driver of the night cart was uninjured, also tho horsoß wero uninjured, and the oart net damaged at all, Medioal aid was socured and Felton taken to the hospital. Tho night was dear, and it is difficult to aoooum for the failure of Felton to see and avoid tho cart, which was on its propor side of the road, and tho oar had fully a chain of spaoo all to itself. Both the car and cart carried lights. Da Montauk was a motor oar agent.
.An inquest was opened this afternoon touching the death of George do Montalk, who was killed early this morning as a result of a motor car collision on the Eiccarton road. Formal evidence of identification was given, and tho inquest was adjourned till Monday, December 17th. The principal witness and driver of the car is at present in the hospital, and will not bo out until about 10 days.
