LAND BILL DISAPPROVED OF IN AUCKLAND. «-»?».-j PRESS ASSOCIATION

Auckland, yesterday. The Hou. Mr McNab was entertained at dinner at Clevodon by the Liberal and Labor Federation. Ho said much of the so-eallcd poverty-stricken land in the north would be found to carry more sheep to the acre than laud in the south. In regard to the Land Bill he said if the Government after firing its last shot failed to securo the country’s support of the measure it would have to go out of existence. Mr McNab addressed a public meeting on the Land Bill in the evening. A resolution was carried to the effect that no alteration should bo made in the existing land law whereby the optional system would be done away with, especially as tho evidence before the Land Commission was entirely in favor of the freehold. This was carried in tho form of an amendment to a motion expressing approval of the Land Bill, by a vory large majority, its . supporters enthusiastically shouting. “ Froohoid, freehold,” as thev hold up their hands.
