PRESS ASSOCIATION Wellington, last night, The Seddon Memorial Committee met this morning and disapproved of the In' spector-General’s scheme for a Seddon memorial, on the ground that the memorial should be truly colonial, and appealing equally to all sections of the community; also, that the funds likely to be contributed were not sufficient, The committee suggested that instead fellowships be given enabling New Zealanders to specia-

lise in auy subject, whether art, science, literature, technology, etc. The fellowships should be divided into two classes New Zealand fellowships and travelling fellowships, the former enabling students to continue their studies in New Zealand, and each to be worth J6IOO a year for two years, the Board to have the right to pay the holder an allowance towards the cost of books, apparatus, etc. The travelling fellowship to bo given to students who desire to study at university, schools, or educational establishments approved by the Board in any part of the British Empire outside the colony of New Zealand. It is suggested that each of these fellowships should bo for £l5O per annum for two years, the Board to have the right to extend the term another year. The Board of Control suggested was the Judges of tlie Supreme Court, they to have absolute control, but this matter was held over for further consideration. Tho Committee afterwards submitted the scheme to the
