[(From Our Own Correspondent.) i During the pass week tho wotk of i boon much retarded by the inoletaeney of the weather. After several hot days heavy rain set in on Friday, 9th insh, from the south-west, and eontinued during the night. The rivors and creeks were ell, more or Jess, in a Hooded state. The weather wao extremely cold and disastrous for tho newly-shorn sheep. The - heaviest losers are reported to be Meeßrs Jefferson (Nnhaks), Geo Ormond (Mania), N. Mclntyre (Monere), A. Richardson (Tarews). aod Bowon (Opoutama). The roads are now in fair order, and the first load of wool of the soason was conveyed to Gisborne last week. A number of tourist also passed through y>. the district en route for tho thermal Springs. Tho bushfelling contracts in tho district arc almost completed, and in some localities tho felled bush appears to bo in good order for burning. It is rrportod that tho Gisborno-Wairoa mall coach will run twico a week in December, and oonticuo to do so during the summer.
