THE LAND BILL,

PRESS ASSOCIATION. Auckland, last night. Mr F. \V. Lang, the Opposition candidate for Manukau, addressed a meeting at Tamaki last night, Mr Massey presided, Mr Lang spoke of tho Land Bill as a surprise to the country, which had been led to expect better facilities for acquiring land. Ho approved of tho action of the Farmers’ Union in regard to the Bill. The £50,000 limitation clause was of no value to Auckland district, in which there was only ono estate above that limit. He had always advocated the leasehold system with the right to acquire the freehold, a system suited to tho poor man, The cutting up of large estates would provido I land only for those who had cash to pay for it. The Government deniod that they favored re-valuation, but there was only ono session out of nine in which an attempt was not made to attompt to pass a Fair Rent Bill. Mr Lang was accorded a hearty vote of thanks and confidence. Mr Massey thon said that at no time in the history of tho colony had it been so I necessary to elect able, strong, and honest men to Parliament. Prosperity covered a multitude of sins.
