Tbe Matqais of RipoD, in the absence of Sir H. Campbell Bannermar, responded on behalf of tbo Ministry. He paid a tribute to Lord Lansdowne’s foreign poiioy, which facilitated continuity. He proceeded to bint that unless Belgium iniiiatod some measures for the amelioration of the condition of affairs in tho Coogo, Britain must, in concert with other nations, endeavor to apply a remedy, at any rato to protect British rights and interests. . , Baron Komura, responding to tbe toast of foreign diplomatists, said the Japanese nation were attached in their alliance with Britain, and united in their desire to maintain and strengthen it.
