For the week’s wool sates for orossbred there is keen competition, and priors are very firm, with an improving demand. Greasy went np to 14fd, a record for tbe season; sooured 201. Melbourne, November 1. Hides : Supplies are still short. There was keen competition, and late rates were fully maintained.

Tlic Colonial Consignment and Distributing Company, London; to-day 7 cabled the following report on the frozen meat market: There is a general improvement in prices, and stocks are light, and held in few hands. Quotations : Canterbury mutton 4;Vd ; Napier, Wellington, and North Island 4;}d. Lamb, first 5Jd, second 5 l-8d Beef, hinds 4d, fores 3d.
SALE AT MATAWHERO YARDS,
There was a good attendance at the Matawliero saloyards yesterday 7, when the fortnightly 7 sales were held Messrs Common, Shelton and Co, report : There was keen demand for forward store sheep Fat sheep were light weight, there being a better demand for long shears. Cattle were dull of sale. The following prices were realised: Sheep : 50 prime fat cut's, shorn, 12s, W. ti. Cooper ; 34 fat owes, 16s 2d, Pilcher Bros.; 103 fat wethers, 20s 7d, Nelson Bros; 305
forward store wethers, 18s 6d, W. Brocklc banh ; 232 fat wethers, 19s 3d, J. A Caesar.
