CRICKET.

A meeting of the Cricket Association was held last evening, there being present: Messrs W, F. Coder wall (in tho chair), Pasicy,. Olsen, Gibson (2), Hallamore, Gardiner, Hill, Maude, Hodge. Mr Olsen’s resignation ns secretary was accepted, and Mr Hill’s appointment confirmed.

Mr E. Harvey Gibbon, Borough Engineer, wrote in reply to the Association rc taking turf for a cricket pitch from Aberdeen Bond. He was willing to meet the Association and discuss the matter.

Mr Maude explained that there was a probability of more suitable turf being obtained at the Domain, and Mr Gibbon’s letter was held over until a sub-committee had interviewed the Rugby Union in the matter.

A letter was received from the secretary of the Te Rail cricket dull, asking perm ssion to play a match against the Rangatira (Tc Karaka) dub at the Victoria Domain on 9th November. Discussion ensued in regard to affiliated dubs playing matches with unaffiliated clubs. Mangatu bad become affiliated with the Association, and it was agreed that other clubs would require to join the Association before matches could lio arranged, Mr Hallamorc moved that tho application bo declined, but if tho llangitira dub joined the Association tho application would bo considered

It was decided to start tho season on Saturday next between two selected teams, and to commence the Association matches on November 9th.

In regard to Thursday matches Mr Pasicy suggested that the Union Club be asked to enter two teams, Tc llau and C,S. and Co, one each. This was held over for consideration later. It was decided to fix the affiliation fee for competing dubs at £2 2s and country clubs £1 Is.

The meeting was adjourned until Monday night, when the fixtures will be drawn up.

A vote of thanks to the chair concluded the meeting.
