SAN FRANCISCO SERVICE.
THE JAPANESE TROUBLE. PRESS ASSOCIATION Auokland, last night. The agents of tbe Oceanic Company announce that it is probable the Sonoma will not leave Auckland for ’Frisco until about November 16th, a week late. Mr Oockroft, general passqpger agent at San Francisco for the Oceanic. 8.8. Company, arrived by the Sonoma to-day. Asked whether be was commissioned by the Company to make sny proposals to the Government in conmotion with a renewal of the San Francisco service, Mr Oockroft stated he bad not received any such instructions. He intended to proceeded to the Exhibition shortly, and while in Wellington would call upon the Premier. When he returned to Ameriea he would report on matters regarding the Company. • Asked whether he oould throw any light upon the exclusion of Japanese from schools in San Francieco, he explained the number of educational institutions had been somewhat diminished by earthquake and fire, and that those left were lather crowded in consequence. Therefore there was a question with those in charge of giving preference to aliens over thoß6 of other races. The question when he left ’Frisco was not regarded as serious, and certainly not one for international complications.
