PREMIER’S REPLY

PRESS ASSOCIATION AVcllington, last night. Sir Joseph Ward, Postmaster-General, replied as follows to the resolution of the House ; “ Kindly convey to my brother members my thanks for the honor done me.. I trust with them that the reform of universal penny postage which I have advocated at the Congress will have a world-wide operation. The acceptance by the Government of the United States of America of the penny postage system for letters from New Zealand to the States is also to me a matter of great satisfaction; not so much for personal reasons as for the public benefit that will ensue.” On the motion of the Hon. Hall-Jones the reply was recorded.
