The chairman of the Exhibition Executive Commissioners has received a telegram from the Premier, informing him (hat the opening day of the exhibition will be proclaimed a public holiday so far as Canterbury is concerned The grand piano imported for the concert hall has arrived, and will be opened up shortly. The value of this fine instrument is 500 guineas, and it is said to be the most expensive ever introduced to Australasia.

The accounts of the National Incurance Co. for the year ending 30th September show an available balance of £55,743, after paying an interim dividend for the year. The directors have added £20,000 to the reserve fund, and recommend tho payment of a further dividend of 9d per share, and to carry forward £28,283.
