Please deal with it as your laws direct. — Cbarles Leitoh, alias Charles Pollard.” Two constables sat out for tbe island at 7 o’olook this morning, and returned shortly aftor 3 o’olook, bringing with them tbo dead body of Loitob, whioh they had found at the top of the cone as indioated. His throat was out, the jugular vein being severed, and in his rigbt hand he hold a razor. He was alec severely out about the abdomerj.

S9ven yards away from where the dead body was lying was a wooden otosb sft 6 n in height, upon whioh the fullowiug was i isoribed : “Even though it be a orose.” The oross was smothered in blood, and it is presumed that the deceased out his throat while leaning on the oross. Iu one of tho deceased’s pookets a note addressed to tbe ooroner was found, explaining that the reason for tbe deed was to bring into preminenoe a work he bad written dealing with human personality.
