Considering that the Handicap at Longohamps was not started fairly the public burst the barriera and raided and burnt the Pari Mutuel booths, stealing twelve hundred sterling. A riot ensued, whioh led to a stampede. Many were injured. Of sixty arrested seventeen were oharged with assaults on the police, looting, and. arson. Troops assisted to' quell the dis» order. The cost of rebuilding will be five thousand. The farther Pari Mutael loss is four thousand. The recea were subsequently cancelled.
