DEPARTMENTAL MISREPRESENTATION.
PRESS ASSOCIATION New Plymouth, last night. At a meeting of the Taranaki Hospital and Charitable Aid Board to-day, exoeptiou was taken to the mjastioes perpetrated in the annual reports issued by Government on the hospitals of the colony. It was stated that figures supplied by the Board’s Seoretary had been so altered that the New Plymouth hospital had been made, despite rigid eoonomy, to lork the most extravagant and costly institution. Members stated they had endeaved to make the figures fit in with the Beard’s annual statement, but failed, The report Bhowed contributions from looal bodies amounting to £IBO7 as £602; Government subsidy, £3218, was shown as £2104, and total revenue, amounting to £OSB (?) was published as £7041. The following resolution was passed. This Board protests agaiußt the way in whioh the returns of the cost for the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board are published by lha Department, as beicig altogether misleading, and Dot giving a correct view of the way in which the separate Boards are administered, and suggests mors oare be taken in making up returua for the future, believing this would make them more valued."
