MR McNAB EXPLAINS,
AN ELECTIONEERING TOUR,
PRESS ASSOCIATION
Wellington, last night. Mr MoNab, Minister for Lands, addressing a meeting at Lower Hutt to-night, said had the Government endeayored to force the Land Bill on to the Statute Book he believed it could have been done, but this was the position : Had they gone on with the Bill, and attempted to put it through, they would have oarried with them through the whole oourse the hostility of a largo section of people, who, if they better understood the proposals and their operation, would have ended by supporting them. Ia view of this, aDd of tho necessity there would be of bringing members baok late in Novomher, it beoamo patent the best course was to postpone the work until noxt session. It was the intention of Givemment to take advantr.gi of every opportunity they had of travailing from one end of the oniony to the other during the recess, explaining the Bill, and replying to questions.
