Mrs Carroll’s Gift of land.
Mrs Carroll, wife of the Hon. J. Carroll' has presented the Cook Momoriai Committee with a plot of land on the Haiti beaoh. This action is much appreciated by the oommittee, who think that the land oempiised in this gift will form a nuoleus for a park. Tha following letter of thanks has been forwarded to Mrs Carroll by tho oommiltee:—
Gisborne, Oat. Sib, 1906. Dear Mrs Carroll, I am directed by the Cook Memo« rial Committee to thank you very sincerely for the magnificent gift of land on the Haiti; beach at the site of the memorial. Yciur generous aotioo is greatly appro, oiated by Ilia committee. The donation will form the nucleus of a park, whioh it is hoped may yet exicad throughout tho beaoh rosorvos and Kaiti Hill.
