GAS COMPANY'S DISPLAY
A FINE SHOW,
Notwithstanding the inclemency of the weather last evening, there was a continuous stream of visitors—most of whom were purchasers—to the magnificent display of gasfiitings and appliances by the Gas Company, as No. 6 Masonic sample rooms, she entrance to wbioh is from Lowe street, nearly oppusiie the Gisborne Hotel. The goods shown were forwarded direct from Messrs B.uce’s works, Birmingham, aod wc-ro a sample lot of fisting) which oould not bo surpassed in tho colony, No two finings were alike, and the main trouble with the visitors was how to choose where they liksd u'l so well. A large number of goads were disposed cf, but with such a stock plenty slill remain, and the Company will continue the exhibition, which it is, until all are disposed of. G eat admiration was expressed at the pat'erns, which are quito up-to-date, aud at tho assonmi-nt end pries. The clusters of invert, d burnois, of latest type, atiraoted considerable attention, as also the original des’gos of tho fittings and glassware as a whole. The Company have deeded not to romove any fittings, although sold, until all have had a fair opportunity of seeing the sehetioo. A very good trade was done in gas appliances, such os gis rings, grills, gas irons, fires, bath heaters, tto,, whioh are ail labor saving, and in these days cf domestic servant difficulty this is a great consideration. Amongsi the latter goods were exhibited a high pressure circulating boiler, which will deliver hot water to aDy portion cf a one or two-storey building, aod will automatically by a very ingenious device raise or lower the gas to the varying temperature ; also a storm radiator, which will automatically keep tho temporaluce cf a room at any degros fixed on.
All were pleased with the display, which equals any held in the oolony, and tha local Gas Company are to be congratulated on tha enterprise ia introducing tho best and latest goods ia their lino into this district, A display such as this should be visited by all, as it gives an idea of the vast strides made io the gas industry during recant years.
