A SINGULAR CASE.
PRESS ASSOCIATION Christoburch, last night. Mr Hughie, editor of Truth, was prosecuted to-day by Mr Maophcrson, luspeotor of Dairies. Truth published an article from a spcc'al reporter, in whioh the shcckiDg Btate of oertain dairies was described. Maophcrson, with a view to proceeding against tho dairymen for breaoh of the Act, went to Hughie and asked the name of the reporter and the [ names of the dairies referred to. Hughie refused, and naked that the request be mode in writing. He was supplied with a request in writing, and still refused, Contending that the refu'al was an offence under ihe Act, Macpborson took proceedings. After lengthy argument, the Magistrate sa : d tho only person liable to proascution for refusing to give information was a person connected with a dairy, and he dismissed the cise. The Crown Proseoutor said the oase would bo taken to a higher I Court,
