I Dunedin last night. Tbe football mr.toh Sydney University v. Oiago team was played on the Gale* donian Ground to-day under most favor* able conditions, and resulted in a win for Oiago by six points to three. The visitors had the advantage of a fairly strong breeze in tbe first spell, but failed to make use of the opportunity, and were on tbe defensive the greater part of the time. Ia this spell Whelan scored a try for Otago. Early in tbe seoond spell Sibbald scored another try for the home team, and | towards the finish James Hughes soored for Sydney after a good pieoe of forward play. The exhibition given by Sydney was again disappointing, the players evidently laoking stamina, Exoept for a brief interval in tbe second spell, when their' forwards showed some dash, they' ! outclassed and rarely looked like sooring. Tbe defence was weak and the team lacked combination and energy. Otago played, fairly well, and but for inaccurate passing would probably have compiled a big score.
