PRESS ASSOCIATION Ohristchurob, last night. Georgina Franoia Brown, matron of a private nursiDg home, appeared before Mr V. Day, S.M., at the Police Court this morning, charged with manslaughter. Tho information alleged that on August 6;h, at Christchurch, by omitting and neglecting to provide a newly-born infant of one Clarence Bell Patterson with proper oare and attention, she caused tho death of the said infant, and was thereby guiliy of manslaughter. Accused was remanded for a week on bail.

New Plymouth, last night. A prisoner who esoaped from a gang at the Weßtem Park this afternoon wasi captured when making his way through th' town to-night. At an inquest on Robert Muscbamp, who shot himself at Waitara on Wednesday, a verdict was returned that death resulted from a gunshot wound self-in-flioted.

The Coroner held an inquest to-day concerning the death of Walter Bibbin, a recent arrival from South Africa, whose body was found in the bedroom of a hotel in the city. Medical evidence showed that death was the result of drinking oxalic acid. Deceased was financially embarrassed.

A prisoner named Joseph Thompson, alias Handley, alias Cooper, escaped from Waiotapu on Sunday. He was last seen going in the direction of Galatea Thompson has a largo number of convictions against him, and at present was serving three years for breaking and entering at Palmerston North.
