NEW SOUTH WALES’ BUDGET,
- PRESS ASSOCIATION - COPYRIGHT Reoeived 12.17 a.m., Bept, 6. Sydney, September 5. The Treasurer submitted a highly satisfactory Budget to-night. The receipts were £12,283,082, and the expenditure £ll 395 242. The revenue shows an increase on the estimate of £994 782", and the expenditure an increase of £117,333, After making certain statutory payments to meet treasury bills a Burplas of £846,124 is carried forward. For tbe first time in the history of the State there will be earmarking of land sales revenue for substantial and permanent worka. Over £900,000 wid be applied for that purpose this year. Relief to taxpayers will be afforded in various directions. Tolls on punts and ferries, which handicap producers to the extent of £SOOO annually, will be abolished. School fees involving £BO,COO will be abolished. Redaction in railway rates will save them £150,000, and penny postage will give an advantage of £50,000. The Treasurer stated that economy, corn* bined with splendid seasons, made the finances exceptionally buoyant, Received 1.7 a m., September 6.
Th 9 Budget stated that not only had Governmental services paid for themselves, but business undertakings had in every instance paid their working expenses. The railway revenue amounted to £5.051,944, and the working expanses and interest on oapital £4,616,305. The loan expenditure was exceptionally low, and the position indioated that they were nearing the day when they could say good-bye to the British money-lender. The estimated revenue for the current year is £l2 030,555, and the surplus is plaoed at £1,444,600.
