DEPUTATIONS.
PROPOSAL TO FINANCE RAILWAY
PRESS ASSOCIATION
Wellington, Saturday. A deputation of Amuri settlers waited on the Minister this morning to urge the construction of a railway line from Quiverden to Waiau. The cost was estimated at £56,000. Tho Minister for Railways said that much mare important works on hand at the present lima must first receive consideration. The deputation then made an offer to find money for the line by settlers taking up Government debentures, as was done with the Waihi-Paeroa and other lines. Tho Minister said that if this offer was made in writing he would send it on to tho Cabinet with a favorable reoommmdafion.
