PRESS ASSOCIATION Blenheim, last night, The rep. match between Golden Bay (Oollingwood) and Marlborough took place to-day in Bplendid weather and a high wind, Marlborough won by 16 points to 6.
TARANAKI 15-SOUTHLAND 6. PRESS ASSOCIATION Hawera, last night. Ths Southland-Taranaki match was on the whole rather uninteresting, but a fairly even go. Southland had superior forwards, but Taranaki’s fine back division more than equalised matters. Two minutes after the start Mynott put in very o’ever work, and Ward following him, ecorcd on the oornor, The try was converted. A penalty was obtained for Southland, and soon after Jenkins (Southland) scored a try. Taranaki Equalised before the ;end of the spell, Hardgreaves converting a penalty. Six points all. The second spell had been in progress for some time wben Hunter dashed right through, and got in a wonderfully dasby run. Coleman scored next, running right through the centre field from half-way. Ward failed at a very easy kick. The final try was cleverly got by Dive. Burgess was the best in the Southland backs, and the forwards were fair, The Taranaki forwards Power and Sheehan were the best ; Hunter, Mynott, Dive, and Coleman p'ayed splsndidly in the back division, Hardgroavoe’ kioking being oapital. The game resulted : Taranaki 15, Southland 6. Mr Peter Maokie refereed. At Association football Taranaki heat Ruahioo by 4 goals to 1 in the Brown Shield competition. Buahine played four substitutes. Chadwick, Cloister, Mao. lagan, and McDonald scored for Taranaki, and Dunoau scared for Buahine- Taranaki had all the best of the game.
