Wellington, last night. Tho Healsh Department has been advised of au outbreak of scarlet fever at Ksiranga, near Palmerston North. Altogothpr there have been twelve cases, of which ten, it is understood, ocourred at one house Most of the cases wero those of school children.
The Federated Seamen’s Union propose to wait on the Minister for Marine with reference to the amount of stores, etc, carried oo small coastal craft. Ik is expected that the Commission enquiring into fires on woolships will finish taking evidence here on Saturday next, and then will move to Chiiskohuroh,opening there about Saturday, September 11.
Government have decide! to make a strenuous onslaught on wild eats and other animals on Kapiti Island, which are doing great destruction to bird life on the Government sanctuary.
