THE RECENT WRECKS.
PRESS ASSOCIATION Auckland, last night. The linding of the Nautical Court into tho wrecks of the Sir Henry, Aotea, and Hacremai, states that each vessel was in a seaworthy condition, and fully equipped and manned The evidence docs not establish that the vessels were overloaded, but it appears to be the position that cargo was stowed on deck. As far as the evidence disclosed, neither the masters nor the owners had permits to carry deck cargo, as required by the Act In respect to this, the Court makes the followin'* observations: " The provisions of the Act relating to deck cargoes and regulations relating to overloading should bo rigorously enforced. That in a port such as Auckland, with its largo licet of scows and small craft, it is necessary for a competent and reliable officer to be appointed, whose duty it would be to sec that the provisions of the Act and the regulations were fully complied with.”
