At about 2.30 a number of meti woro woiking in No. -1 level iu tbo southern end of tho drivo, when tlioro was a elido of about 25 tons of ore. Tho ground is a greasy, slatoy nature, und littlo warning was given. A uiau named Charles Prox was trucking beneath tho slide, whioh occurred instiully. It took hours to fxtriouto tho body. A young man named Bob Stovcnson, a well-known athlete and footballer, was caught by tho falling reck, aud his left foot wns amputated. Another man had a very narrow esoape, the leg of his trousers being dragged oil. Tho shift bcsi also throw himsolf cloar, but sustained painful injuries by his fading. Stcvonson was at once taken to tho hospital. The deceased loaves a wifo and tbrdo young children. Ho wub ODly about 2G yours of oge.
