PRESS ASSOCIATION—UOYI'BIUUT London, August 2. A deputation representing the P-irlia-mentory Committee of tbo Trades Union Congress, the General F-deration of Trades Union?, and Labor members of tho Efoir-e of Commons, submitted Jo Sir H. 0 Rannerman and Mr Brixton an objection to tbo large amount of preference given to time expired soldiers and sailors in employment in the pool office and other branches of the public service, to tho prejudice of the ordinary labor market. It is reported that Sir H. G. Bannerman’s reply was satisfactory. The Colonial Marriages Bill has passed Committro in the House of Commons. Mr Churchill carried an amendment declaring that death duties paid before the passing of (bo Bill should not be returnable.
In connection with a scheme recently ontlioed by Mr John Bnms for assisting unemployed, the Government have eotrustodLord Carrington with fourthousaod non s of Crown lands to be treated similarly when the leases expire.
