Long's amendment to reject it whs negatived by 369 to 177. Mr Redmond declared that Nationalists were actually looking for justice to the House of Lords. Others comprising llio minority ex-
pressed equal dissatisfaction. Tho Times says : Several Ministerialists acted as candid friends, and seldom has a measure of such importance passed by a m-eat majority been so damned with faint praise, The aim of the Bill is to settle the religious difficulty, and unless it does so it lias failed.
