0. Mirfiu, editor and proprietor of the Insngahua Herald, was oharged on five informations by the Railway Department with making a false declaration re reporter’s lick-te. The evidenoe showed that reporters’ tickets were issued to a daughter working in the accused's office, his son inlaw, and domestic servant, to attend a Supreme Court trial at Hokitika, and on other occasions, at one quarter ordinary rates. Defendant stated that be had eigoed the declarations oarelessly, not asking any questions. Tbe Benob fined him £2 and costs on each information, totalling £2l odd. The son-in-law was fined 20e and ooste £4 for transferring a ticket, and on transference he was fined 10s and costs £3 15s for using the same.
