Wellington stands first for rate of progress with an increase of 27.12 per cent in five years and one month. Otago, 173,145, 180,944, 7,799, 4.50. it- Out of a total of 2,365 half castes m April, 1906, the provincial district of Auckland had 1,555, Wellington 220, and Otago 238. Out of a total of 2,493 Chinese, Otago had 808, Wellington 657, Westland 3U9. Auckland 261, Nelson 197, and Canterbury 117.
