SIR JOSEPH WARD.

PRESS ASSOCIATION. Auckland, last night.

A large representative deputation to the Mayor urged a public woloame to Sir Joseph Ward on his arrival here. The Mayor expressed pleasure in aeoediug to the request. After the conspicuous ability Sir Joseph Ward had displayed and the worthy manner in whioh he had represented the culony, Auckland would be distinctly laoking in its duty if the opportunity were missed of according a public reception. He would be pleased to officially welcome him- It was resolved to present Sir Joseph Ward with an address of welcome and recoguition of his service to the colony, and a strong oommittee was appointed. A similar address will be presented by the Auckland branch of the Liberal and Labor Federation.
