At a special committee mooting of the Liedortafel to ooDsider the reply by the Minister in charge of the New Zealand exhibition to the protest made by the Liedertafel at the treatment of Mr Orchard by the Now Zealand Government, tho following resolution, whioh will be oon« vo.yod to Mr McGowan, was carried: " That the committee of the Sydney Liedertafel, having seen the whole of the correspondence between Mr Orchard and the Entertainment Committee of the New Zealand international exhibition, consider tho reply of the Minister as published in this morning’s papers as unsatisfactory, and they are still of opinion that in view of the unanimous selection of Mr Otohard by the two committees, and the subsequent recommendations b.y tho Commissioners, he was unfairly treated by the Minister in refusing his formal confirmation of Mr Orchard’s appointment as conductor in favor of a looal applicant. Further, it is inexplicable that the Minister should have read the correspondence and should have come to the decision to appoint another person.”
