The sympathy of overyono must be with those who have lost so heavily by the experiences of the past two days. At present it is impossible to estimate the losses, but sufficient is alas known to make it certain that some who can ill afford it have suffered very severely. In order that the wave of sympathy may be given practical effect to, it seems to us , desirable that an opportunity should be given to tho many who are willing to contribute to take part in a joint effort to give assistance to those who need it.
