An angry scene took plaoe in the Assembly, during whioh Mr Solly characterised the Bent administration as tbe most corrupt Victotia had ever had. Mr Solly was ordered to retire from the Chamber, and was subsequently allowed to withdraw the rema k, but alleged it was made to him by a supporter of tbe Government.

During the exoitement Mr Bennett denounced Mr Bent as a scandalous old rasoai. Subsequently he withdrew the rema:k, but asked for a Royal Commission to inquire into tbe purchase of Ohirnside estate, e? corruption was whispered,
